Open your resume at www.visualcv.com. You'll be adding two items in the side column. Take your favorite paper (one you're proud of), save it as a PDF, upload the paper to portfolio items, and then find anpte image to place over the PDF. Add your 6 word memoir OR create a Word Cloud. I would suggest using tagxedo.com for the Word Cloud. It allows you to create shapes and easily saves. Create your Word Cloud with words that describe you. If you've created your video, upload it to your visual cv (add the link). Submit your speech introduction on www.turnitin.com. (If you've already printed it out, you can give me the paper.) Finish reading Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. **Some general reminders: If you've been absent on a day we held a socratic seminar, you can make up the points by writing a discussion question from Alice and then answering it in about a paragraph. PORTFOLIOS AND VIDEOS DUE MAY 10!!!!!! Click on the White Rabbit to the left to open the Prezi of questions for Alice. Type your answers and submit to turnitin.com by the end of class today. Please start pulling together your papers for your senior portfolios. The following will be due April 29 & April 30: (These can be placed in a file folder or clipped together. If you've already started your portfolio, bring that in. I'll just check items and return them to you the same day.) Items: Resume, typed goals -- these are part of your journal assignment, 3 poems, 3 compositions (see handout), 3 misc (see handout) Remember to read through Chapter 4 and mark something from each chapter that interests you or peaks your curiousity. For homework, please write a 2 page paper -- typed, double spaced, 12 point font, 1" margins. Answer the question: Has Facebook Ruined Love? You can discuss any type of social media -- it doesn't have to be exclusively Facebook. The NY Times "Room For Debate" has 6 or 7 clear arguments you can use as models. Be sure that you take a stance. You may use examples from your own life or a friend's life to support your argument. Logs for Act 3 will be due next Thursday. We read 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3 in class. You're performing 3.4 on Tuesday.
You are going to watch a stage rendition of Twelfth Night, Act II, Scene 4. I suggest you watch on your own computers using the attached headphones (or your own, if you want) because the sound in the room is not very good. Do please watch it relatively together though -- you may follow along in your book if that helps. Click on the Playbill image to watch the scene (approx 10 minutes long) Use the comment section to comment on the scene. Some questions you might answer: What do you think of the Duke? Of Viola / Cesario? What about the Fool? How does this scene use dramatic irony? What similarities are there between the beginning of this scene and the beginning of the play? Did you notice what the Duke gives to Viola at the end of the scene for Olivia? Did it help your understanding to see it played out? Complete logs for 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, and 2.4. Turn them in at the end of class. You may use the attached chart or type your own. You must try to turn the logs in at the end of class. Thank you. If you don't finish, please bring them to class Tuesday. Log No homework. Each group, find Viola's "willow cabin" speech to Olivia: Act 1, Scene 5, lines 271-279. Copy and paste them into a document. Double space the passage. Using hyperlinks, define every word you don't know or are unsure of. Include in your definitions the words" babbling" and "gossip" and "elements." Your definitions MUST come from the Oxford English Dictionary! Find the definition that was used in the 1600s when Shakespeare wrote the play. When you're looking at definitions, you might notice that most of the quotations using the word refer to Shakespeare, oftentimes to Twelfth Night! Hyperlink to an explanation of the willow -- what is it a symbol for? What does Viola / Cesario mean when she says "call upon my soul within the house"? Add a footnote or footnotes to indicate any alliteration. All words that relate to Sight, change the font to green; All words that relate to Touch, change the font to blue; All words that relate to Taste, change the font to Red; All words that relate to Smell, change the font to Yellow; all words that relate to Sound, change the font to Purple. What sense dominates this passage? Basically, what is Viola/Cesario saying that she / he would do to woo Olivia? On a new page, re-write the speech as accurately as possible. You're writing the No Fear Shakespeare -- do NOT refer to any help site though. Answer the following: What is Viola's attitude towards Orsino? What is Viola's attitude towards Olivia? What is Viola's attitude towards the relationship between Orsino and Olivia? Submit to turnitin.com. You only need to make one submission per group. Be sure all names are on the paper.
