Post your response here to the homework question. Identify the central argument in each essay. On the class blog (period 6), write a paragraph in which you (1) write the argument of each essay; (2) make your own argument; (3) support it with evidence. Respond to two other classmates – your paragraph is due by Tuesday, 9/30. Your response is due by Friday, 10/03.
Go the NY Times Learning Network: Student Opinion section. Find one of the topics, read the question and the associated article (which you must quote at least one time in your response). Respond to the topic, being sure that you have a strong claim and evidence to support your claim. Evidence must be more than one word. Evidence includes explanation. For example, some of you simply said "education" as a reason on your Toulmin charts (Is America a great country?) -- this is not a reason -- you have to say something about education. (Your post should be in the 300 - 500 word range -- big range, I know. It depends on your topic.)
By next Friday, respond to two of your classmates. Your response needs to include if you agree or disagree with specific points of their argument and why. Homework: Type a complete rhetorical analysis using MLA format of your speech or text from Everything's an Argument. Bring a copy to class and post a copy to turnitin. Have a good weekend.
