Family Reunion:
Jeff W.

shoot that was only 180 words so i guess i have to continue!!! forget about the last sentence on the first post and continue reading below. As i was saying, all of our family gatherings feel like a reunion because of the social feeling we give. We are always talking and telling new stories to the younger generations about the old, "Back in my Day," and just saying what we did just weeks ago. To my family, a reunion is not just a get together to see everyone once ever who knows how many years, our Reunions are actual celebrations where we see everyone every couple months and share stories from the past and hope to have the younger generations carry on with these traditions and tell stories to their children and keep in touch with all of the family in hard times or not but to just be social and not forget the roots of the family and always remember that we are all loved and with see everyone countless more times in the future and to know that no matter what every gathering is a reunion in the Woodward family.

That is good that your family gets together on holidays! I think its really important to stay close to your family and tell stories like you said. I don't get to see my family because I am from Canada and am so far away from them, but I know the feeling of seeing them after a long time and wanting to share all of your stories and let everyone know they are loved. Being around your family is important.

A cynic is a person who believes that people are motivated purely by self-interest rather than acting for honorable or unselfish reasons. A negative outlook on life can tarnish your happiness, especially when it is every day. I believe in law of attraction, which is the belief that “like attracts like.” When you think positive thought, the world will bring you positive things, and visa-versa. For example, if you go into a test believing you will fail, chances are you will. Going into that test with an optimistic attitude will probably help you achieve the grade you are looking for. This is why people make vision boards, when you are thinking positively about something, it may come to you. But in the same aspect, when someone is constantly negative and thinking the world is “cruel” and “out to get them,” that may actually make the world cruel, and out to get you. This is the worst thing someone can do, and being this way can isolate you and make you incredibly unhappy. I would describe myself as the total opposite of cynic. I am a pure optimist, and I always have a sunny outlook on life. Although I try to be as positive as I can be, and I usually am, sometimes you can’t help for things to get you down. But you have to try to fight those negative thoughts because if you spew out negativity, you are sure to get negativity thrown back upon you. I know someone who is very cynic, his tone is always doubtful and pessimistic (he’s a Libra). He often says that he is “unhappy” and can’t figure out why, but maybe if he looked at things in a brighter way, and stopped analyzing life as if it’s a job interview every day, he can cut back and achieve more happiness. I believe that when someone is Cynic all the time, it makes them an outcast. People don’t really want to be around someone who is always judging and thinking people are out to get them. I’ve even described him as a black hole, when he is around everything just wasn’t as nice and airy as before, everyone gets quiet and no one can be themselves. “This world doesn’t care about you,” is what he always says, but if you change your thoughts to something like “Mother Nature loves you,” you may be able to live a more peaceful, happy life. Keeping a positive attitude towards most things is difficult, but you will quickly learn that it is the best thing you can do for your own happiness, and inner growth.

LAW OF ATTRACTION! I can relate to that. One of my best friends always told me that law of attraction is a used to attract things you like, but I thought it was wrong because whenever I was attracted to something and eagerly wanted it, the thing never happened or I never got it, which made me not fully trust that law. The thing is people tend to give up so easily and that is what I did, after my first attempt I couldn't handle it so I gave up completely, when I should have tried again and again because eventually it would have worked. Thereby, I can relate to you, of law of attraction, because it might of worked if I had worked harder and not given up so easily.

Hey Gaity, this was really cool to read! That's amazing what you did and what you learned from it. The fact that you didn't even know what you would get out of it, yet you still did the good deed is awesome. Strangers are usually the most interesting people to talk to because the possibilities are endless. (:

DARK VADER! Omg I never knew he was a manslaughter, but not only older man but young kids. Awe! I can relate to you on that not, I have done some many things which I regret doing after a week, once I realize that the thing I was doing was only to haunt me in the future. Well at least you were a child and it does not really matter right now since you realize that it was a mistake and shouldn't have done it. I bet many kids felt the same after realizing what DARK VADOR really is, heck I believe many kids when theory were young did bad things because they thought it was cool and they were the top, when in reality it was not, but it's okay because that was when you were young and now you are mature and know the difference between right and wrong.

Wow! This story was really entertaining; I felt like there was some intense metaphors in there. When I watched Episode 3, I thought Anakin was the coolest character ever. He even made me want to be a bad guy and that was a big deal to me because when I was younger I always wanted to be the good guy in movies and other stuff. I like how you compared younger self to your older self. Good job!

Sad to say i have never seen this in my entire life... i have heard a lot about it but never had the enthusiasm about it to actually watch. This was a very touching story about your childhood. I admire your writing!

When being employed, at most places, there is a required dress code that is strictly enforced based on the industry. For instance at Chuck E. Cheese, which is where I have been employed for the past year in a half, they require you to show up with a “hospitality” look. There definition of a “hospitality” look is black or beige jeans, not skinny jeans, a belt, a red, navy blue, or black fitted polo shirt, that must be tucked in at all times, your badge around your neck, and a pair of black non-slip shoes to be worn. Personally when walking into the doors of Chuck E. Cheese dressed in the required dress code enforced there I feel more power in a sort of way. It allows myself to stand out from the guests there and give the impression that I am a hard worker. Throughout my year in a half in this industry I have searched for the perfect work uniform from various stores such as Wal-Mart, Target, K & S, JCPenny’s, Kohl’s, and the Dickies store. From all of those stores the place that I have found to be the most suitable for myself is the Dickies store, which is located at the South Las Vegas Outlet Mall. This particular store compared to the other few locations here in Las Vegas has always had something that will meet the standards for my corporation and for my personal preference. Maybe it is just because I am a female, but I am one of the most anal people when it comes to finding the right clothes. If it does not completely satisfy my standards I absolutely will not buy it.

Fireworks are very exciting and give everyone different kinds of feelings. The minute I hear the sound of fireworks, before I even see them, I feel excited. Fireworks have always been one of my favorite things to see since I was a child. I remember the first time I saw fireworks I was at Disneyland during their end of the day parade. They set off a huge firework show at the end that I always had to wait for. My family goes to Disneyland every year, ever since I was one year old, and I remembered the fireworks were always one of the biggest things I looked forward to. I remember wanting my dad to put me on his shoulders so I could be closer to the fireworks. I could watch them for hours and never get bored. As loud as they were, I would fall asleep on my mom’s lap watching them and then wake up disappointed because I didn’t stay up for the entire show. Even though I am older now, we still go to Disneyland every year and I still get happy to watch the fireworks. I think they are really fascinating and can never get boring no matter how many times you watch them. Every new years and holiday with fireworks, I come to town to watch the fireworks. I think they are one of the only things that can bring such excitement and happiness to both little kids, adults, and seniors. The bursting colors are so fun to watch and the crackling sound as they explode cause immediate excitement. I love the view of crowds of people looking up to watch the fireworks with gigantic smiles on their faces. People are just happy when they see fireworks, no matter who they are. They are little things that even though they happen every year for many holidays, that still make people all over the world extremely happy and excited to watch them. I remember the first time my older brother bought real fireworks and took me out to put them off in the desert. I thought it was the coolest thing ever because I had always admired them so much, and the fact that my brother and I were then the ones setting them off was so amazing to me. Fireworks are just one of those little things that stuck with me since I was a little girl and I don’t think that I will ever get tired of watching them.

Wow! Fireworks are like a family tradition to you. Opposite from you, I actually grew up scared of fireworks and still am. Although I am scared of the loud noise, I try my best to conquer my fear every time there's a chance I get to. I hate being left out when everyone is having fun on the Fourth of July and I'm always on the side covering my ears. Don't get me wrong, I love fireworks, and I, too, think they're absolutely gorgeous to watch; I just wish that I wasn't so afraid of the sudden, loud, explosion. Your family tradition sounds of fun; I'm really excited to experience the fireworks in Disneyland with a date!

Everyone goes through rough times, so just know you're not alone! I like how you are writing this letter to yourself, so you can look back at it in the future and see how far you've come. You will see that life has changed for the better. Out of all of the things you've talked about, I've realized the boy has impacted you the most. Someone better will come along, keep staying positive!

GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL! All you hear are diehard fans screaming their lungs out whether their team is either winning or losing. That is all I heard when I took my trip to Brazil this summer to actually watch the World Cup! It was by far the best experience I have ever had. I felt the spirit of soccer as soon as I landed in Rio de Janeiro. There was nothing else quite like this feeling. The excitement went through my veins and my body as if it were a bolt of electricity flowing through my body.

It was really cool being able to hear how you got over your fear of heights; you did a really good job at showing how you were able to overcome this and showing why it was difficult for you to overcome it. It was cool to read how your family helped you overcome this. I tried star gazing once when I was younger, but then I just got really bored.

I've always wanted to go to a rooftop and look at the stars! I was never scared of ladders but being on one and then looking down is pretty scary. I just hold on really tight to the ladder when I'm on one. I'm glad you conquered your fear and that you were able to enjoy the amazing night with your fame bam!

I liked your post because my family used to do the same thing! Star gazing is always a fun activity to do especially with our family. I liked how you added the scene with your sister because you can really picture it happening.

Stephanie, I like that although you're writing about being shy, you posted it up on the class blog. You could have picked one of the other prompts and you chose this one, which is interesting. I was super shy when I was little, like I couldn't even order my own food at McDonald's type of thing. I definitely understand you, even though I seem kind of outgoing now. Just because sharing your work out loud, or having the spotlight on you isn't your favorite thing, doesn't mean your work isn't good. Maybe writing could be your output? Words are crazy powerful and they don't need to be spoken to be great and beautiful! Don't be so hard on yourself(:

Letter to Yourself:

I did the same exact thing with the letter to yourself. I know exactly how you feel about the dad situation. My dad is always spending on my sister and I and I always appreciate him but I should show it more. While I was writing my letter to myself I was thinking all the stuff that I need to be told. Maybe this letter to ourselves was just reminders that we need to tell ourselves every once in a while. Even though dads can be hard on us sometimes they are only doing it because they care. I'm glad my dads always been there because my mom was never. So you're lucky to have both there for you. This was a very good letter to yourself!
